The Birth of Jesus Foretold
Luke 1:26-38
Now in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee, named Nazareth, to a virgin pledged to be
married to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary. Having come in, the angel said to
her, "Rejoice, you highly favored one! The Lord is with you. Blessed are you among women!"
But when she saw him, she was greatly troubled at the saying, and considered what kind of salutation this might be. The angel said
to her, "Don't be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb, and bring forth a son,
and will call his name 'Jesus.' He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne
of his father, David, and he will reign over the house of Jacob forever. There will be no end to his Kingdom."
Mary said to the angel, "How can this be, seeing I am a virgin?"
The angel answered her, "The Holy Spirit will come on you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you. Therefore also
the holy one who is born from you will be called the Son of God. Behold, Elizabeth, your relative, also has conceived a son in her
old age; and this is the sixth month with her who was called barren. For everything spoken by God is possible."
Mary said, "Behold, the handmaid of the Lord; be it to me according to your word."
The angel departed from her.

The Birth of Jesus Christ
Mat 1:18-25
This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother was pledges to be married to Joseph, but before they came
together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not
want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.
But after he had consider this, an angle of the Lord appeared to him n a dream and said," Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to
take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to
give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins"
All this took place to fulfill what the Lord has said through the prophet " The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son,
and they will call him Immanuel" which mean God with us."
When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he had no
union with her until she gave birth to a son, And he gave him the name Jesus.
The Shepherds and the Angels
Luke 2:8-20
There were shepherds in the same country staying in the field, and keeping watch by night over their flock. Behold, an angel of the
Lord stood by them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. The angel said to them, "Don't be
afraid, for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be to all the people. For there is born to you, this day, in the city
of David, a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. This is the sign to you: you will find a baby wrapped in strips of cloth, lying in a feeding
trough." Suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly army praising God, and saying,
"Glory to God in the highest, on earth peace, good will toward men."
It happened, when the angels went away from them into the sky, that the shepherds said one to another, "Let's go to Bethlehem,
now, and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has made known to us." They came with haste, and found both Mary
and Joseph, and the baby was lying in the feeding trough. When they saw it, they publicized widely the saying which was spoken
to them about this child. All who heard it wondered at the things which were spoken to them by the shepherds. But Mary kept all
these sayings, pondering them in her heart. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had
heard and seen, just as it was told them.

The Visit of the Magi
Mat 2: 1-12
After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked,
"Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him."
When King Herod heard this he was disturbed, and all Jerusalem with him. When he had called together all the people's chief
priests and teachers of the law, he asked them where the Christ was to be born. "In Bethlehem in Judea," they replied, "for this is
what the prophet has written:
" 'But you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,
are by no means least among the rulers of Judah;
for out of you will come a ruler
who will be the shepherd of my people Israel.'"

Then Herod called the Magi secretly and found out from them the exact time the star had appeared. 8He sent them to Bethlehem
and said, "Go and make a careful search for the child. As soon as you find him, report to me, so that I too may go and worship
him."

After they had heard the king, they went on their way, and the star they had seen in the east[e] went ahead of them until it stopped
over the place where the child was. When they saw the star, they were overjoyed. On coming to the house, they saw the child
with his mother Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasures and presented him with gifts of
gold and of incense and of myrrh. And having been warned in a dream not to go back to Herod, they returned to their country by
another route.
